Saturday, Sep 15, 2018 at 8:00 AM (CT) to Saturday, Sep 15, 2018 at 5:00 PM (CT)

The Paradox of Peace

Peace is full of paradox--tensions between conflict and reconciliation, between justice and forgiveness, between hope and fear. Join us in honoring Nobel Peace Prize laureates who have navigated these paradoxes:

  • September 14: President Juan Manuel Santos of Colombia
  • September 15: the International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons (ICAN)

Saturday’s programming will engage with the “wicked problem” of ridding the world of the nuclear weapons that threaten the very existence of life on earth. ICAN’s Executive Director Beatrice Fihn and panelists such as Amb. Laura Holgate will discuss ongoing efforts to avoid nuclear war.

Additional programming will take place on the paradox of water, water diplomacy in the Middle East, and the new Green Revolution in agriculture.
